"Why is my dog doing this!?"
I hear this question every day from dog owners who can't understand why their dog continues to misbehave, or not learn something that seems so easy, or un-learns a behavior overnight, like going outside to potty instead of on the carpet.
Don't lose hope and try not to get frustrated. I am available for single-issue phone and Skype consultations. If you're in the Miami or NYC area and you want an in-home training session, please contact me. Please see the PayPal button below to schedule your phone/Skype consult or in-home training session.
I do limited in-home training sessions in NYC or Miami, so please choose a phone consultation if you are outside of those areas. Please email me if you'd like an in-home training session to see if I'm available.
About Nikki and Her Training Methods
Dog trainer Nikki Moustaki has been training dogs professionally since 2000. She started professionally training dogs after years of learning training methods on parrots. She began by training her friends' and neighbors' dogs, and then went on to volunteer in the behavior center at a large shelter, where she learned to deal with the unique problems of shelter dogs. She started a lively training practice in NYC, focusing on the "city dog" and his particular requirements.
Nikki enjoys the challenge of working with shelter dogs, and also with families at their wit's end with their dog, ready to drop him off at the local pound - Nikki has managed to keep many dogs in their homes by helping owners understand easy and compassionate training methods that work.
Nikki is the author of hundreds of articles on pets in magazines such as Dog Fancy, Cat Fancy, Bird Talk, Dogs USA, Birds USA, Pet Product News, and many others. She is the author of 9 books on dogs and 24 books on birds and their care and training. She hosts a dog show on The Beach Channel in Miami Beach and hosted a pet show on MSN.com produced by NBC.
As a dog trainer, Nikki uses positive reinforcement methods, including clicker training. She also balances training with management to create an environment that's comfortable for both pet and owner.
She works exclusively one-on-one with dog and owner to address common behavioral issues, such as house training lapses, escaping, chewing, digging, counter surfing, leash pulling, excessive barking, and some forms of aggression.
Nikki also works with puppy owners to train their little "blank slates" from the start so that problem behaviors don't form. Nikki gives the low-down on clicker training here.
When you are Nikki's training client, you have phone and email access to her between sessions in case you have any questions or concerns, or just want to brag about how well your dog is doing with his or her training.
