I discovered Bionic dog toys at a pet trade show and was immediately impressed with their durability. The Bionic toys are made with a special kind of rubber that is pet-safe and can withstand the jaws of even the toughest chewer. They don't say that their toys are indestructable (likely for legal reasons), but their demonstrations surely tell a different story -- see the video above. If a toy can withstand a high-tech blender, it can withstand your Dachshund.
My three dogs are not particularly hard chewers, so I can honestly say that these toys will last the lifetime of my dogs, and then my next dogs, and my dogs after that. I like money-saving pet stuff, so these toys get a big paws up from me! Dog toys are expensive these days, and if you have a dog that's rough on toys, you're likely spending a lot. Instead, purchase something more durable and spend the money you save on dog cookies instead.
UPDATE: Someone wrote to me and said that his Doberman wrecked a Bionic ball in three days. My dogs still haven't wrecked any of our Bionic toys in a year. I haven't seen a chewed-up Bionic ball yet, but I suppose that if your dog was determined, he could make a dent in one of these toys.
From Bionic's website:
Bionic Rubber® is a revolutionary material that can withstand the aggressive play patterns of most pets. Bionic products have been tested in rescue shelters and day cares around the U.S. for years. By making and destroying countless samples, we know Bionic Rubber® can hold up to the most aggressive chewers.
