What is the Pet Postcard Project?
"Pet Postcards" for this project are homemade postcards featuring your own pets that you make and then snail mail into The Pet Postcard Project. Each card earns 1 pound of food for shelter dogs. So, if you send 10 cards for the cost of a stamp, you have given 10 lbs of food for shelter pets! Plus, it's fun. So far, this project has received thousands of cards -- funny, weird, sad, cute, even more cute, profound, and above all, filled with LOVE for a beloved pet.
The postcards are roughly the size of an average postcard, and are decorated with photos of pets, drawings, markers, colored pens, stickers, glitter, pretty paper -- some are simple (made at your office while you're supposed to be working) and some are beautiful and complex (made by hardcore scrapbookers), and some are computer generated (for those tech savvy pet lovers). But the thing they ALL have in common is how the card makers feel about their pets.
Currently, the cards come in 4 categories: Dogvice and Catvice (advice FROM dogs or cats), True Dog Confessions and True Cat Confessions; Dog Wishes and Cat Wishes; Dog Excuses and Cat Excuses (NEW!).
Please include a PHOTO of the pet with your cards, or else we won't know who's advising, confessing, wishing, or making excuses!
This site does NOT make money on this project. It's all to raise food and awareness for shelter animals. Don't buy: ADOPT!

Rachael Ray's Nutrish "Food Raiser" Campaign
CARD GOAL: 6,000

Rachael Ray's Nutrish has pledged 1 pound of dog food for each homemade postcard received in the mail by the Pet Postcard Project! The goal is to give 3 TONS of food to both Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Sabbath Memorial Dog Rescue -- we need 6,000 cards! Please send in your cards today!
ALL of Rachael’s proceeds for Nutrish dog food go directly to Rachael’s Rescue to help more dogs in need! To date, Nutrish has raised more than $250,000 in charitable donations to homeless animals.
The Pet Postcard Project's Spokesdog for this campaign isn't a celebrity dog, it's over 7,500 celebrity dogs! The PIF (Paw it Forward) group on Dogster.com is spearheading the campaign to raise 6,000 cards so that we can get 3 TONS of Nutrish food to homeless dogs.

About Nikki Moustaki
THE PET POSTCARD PROJECT is the brainchild of writer Nikki Moustaki, who also runs, True Wish Confessions, and Rock Secrets.
One pound of dog food for every qualifying postcard received goes to dog charities! To date, this project has raised nearly $18,000 and 26,000 pounds of food for shelter animals!
Nikki Moustaki, MA, MFA, is a well-known dog trainer, TV and radio personality, and animal expert who splits her time between New York City and Miami Beach with her two rescued Schnauzers, Pepper and Ozzie, her rescued Schnoodle, Pearl, and three parrots. She is the author of 8 books on dogs and 23 books on birds (5 books on topics other than pets as well).
She currently writes for Dog Fancy Magazine, Popular Dogs, and several other BowTie publications, as well as for PetFinder.com. Nikki has been featured on national television and radio shows including the BBC and the Tony Danza Show, and she hosted NBC/Universal/MSN’s online show, The Celebrity Pet Dish

Winston, a long-time friend of The Pet Postcard Project, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I loved seeing his happy face on many cards that came in over the last three years. He was a very creative doggie! He lived to be 14. No doubt he's romping somewhere in Doggie Heaven having a ball and eating unlimited treats. He will be greatly missed. RIP Winston and many condolences to his canine and human family.

DOGVICE = Dog advice FROM dogs to other dogs and their humans.
CATVICE = Cat advice FROM cats to other cats and their humans.
TRUE DOG CONFESSIONS and TRUE CAT CONFESSIONS = Secret Confessions from EITHER pet or guardian.
DOG WISHES and CAT WISHES = Secret wishes and desires FROM THE DOG OR CAT.
DOG EXCUSES and CAT EXCUSES = When dogs and cats excuse the unjustifiable. Excuses FROM A DOG OR CAT about doing whatever it is that he or she does (i.e., something naughty, funny, gross, weird, or totally wacky).
