COMPLETED! Pet Postcard Project Pet Food Recipients for May, 2011

Please send in your homemade postcards featuring your pets in May, 2011, for the The Fayette County Humane Society in Ohio and the Companion Animal Rehoming Center (CARC) in Fayetteville, North Carolina! Each will get over 500 pounds of Rachael Ray Nutrish dog food!

The Fayette County Humane Society is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to prevent cruelty to all domestic animals in Fayette County, Ohio, and to provide humane care and treatment to all domestic animals in need of protection. They strive to eliminate euthanasia as a means of pet population control through education, sterilization programs and adoptions.

CARC's mission is to reduce the number of abused, neglected and displaced companion animals through compassionate rehabilitation, rehoming and reuniting through community education, outreach and exposure.

DSC_0329-1The Spokesdogs for the CARC are Molly and Rupert. From Molly: “I wanted to be a Mommy, but didn’t have any puppies of my own, so I went to CARC where I have lots of friends and that is where I found Rupert. Rupert has become my pride and joy, and he is so smart, we spend the days learning new games like tug of war and chew the toy and of course great skills like gardening, and chasing the cats. I just love my Rupert and I love CARC for saving him for me.”

From Rupert: “When I needed a new home, I decided to use CARC because I had heard that they didn’t just send us to a family that would not pay attention to us, but that they find people that are going to LOVE me and that will make sure that they teach me and take care of me, and Molly, well she was just a bonus. I couldn’t ask for a better mommy. I remember my first night, every time I opened my eyes, there she was, just watching me and making sure that I was OK. I would never use another center besides CARC. They made sure that my mommy and my bipeds both loved me before they brought me home and you should see all the cats I get to chase”

What is the Pet Postcard Project?

  • The Pet Postcard Project is a grassroots arts-and-crafts project aimed at raising food for shelter pets and awareness about the plight of homeless animals. "Pet Postcards" for this project are homemade and handmade postcards featuring your own pets that you make and then snail mail into The Pet Postcard Project. Each card you send earns food for shelter dogs and cats. So far, this project has received many thousands of funny, weird, sad, cute, and profound cards, all filled with love for a beloved pet.

    Please include a PHOTO of the animal on each card, or else we won't know who's "talking!" The words are not just captions, they are creative confessions, wishes, advice, excuses, and "you know you love your dog/cat when" ideas. Here's how to turn postcards into pet food for shelter animals!

    This site does NOT make money on this project. It's all to raise food and awareness for shelter animals.
